Glasses for a Low Nose Bridge: How to Choose a Frame
October 13, 2026Two monitors can make work easier, but screens at different distances can also mean constant shifts of focus, head turning and discomfort. Glasses for two monitors should match your actual working distances and visual needs, rather than being chosen only for a blue-light filter.
Quick check: measure the distance to both displays, make text sizes consistent and place your main monitor directly in front of you. If reading and screen distances differ, ask whether your current correction is suitable.
How should you position two monitors?
If you use both equally, centre their meeting point in front of you and turn your chair rather than only your neck. If one is your main display, put it directly ahead and the other at a comfortable angle to the side. The top edge is usually around or slightly below eye level; the best height depends on your glasses and posture.
Why does screen distance matter?
Reading glasses are intended for a closer distance than a typical large monitor. If one screen is 50 cm away and the other 80 cm, focusing may feel different. Measure both distances and take the measurements to your eye-care appointment.
Do two monitors require a special prescription?
Not always. If you see clearly and comfortably with an appropriate correction, the number of monitors alone does not require new glasses. With presbyopia, astigmatism or progressive lenses, however, working distances should be part of the consultation. Prescription measurements and lens centration are professional tasks.
What about progressive lenses?
Some progressive designs have a limited intermediate zone, making head movement necessary. Discuss the benefits, adaptation and limitations with an optician, including whether occupational or office lenses would suit your work better.
Do you need computer glasses without a prescription?
Not necessarily. Comfort may depend more on lighting, dryness, resolution, text size and breaks. Cochrane’s systematic review found that blue-light filtering glasses may not reduce short-term eye strain compared with lenses without such a filter. You may prefer a particular coating, but that is not an established treatment.
Choosing a frame for a long working day
Look for a comfortable bridge, stable positioning as you turn your head, a suitable field of view and temples that do not press hard. Compare the measurements with a comfortable existing pair. Computer glasses for women and men should meet the same fit checks.

Frequently asked questions
Do two monitors mean I need two pairs of glasses?
No. Correction is chosen for your vision and working distances, not the number of devices.
Is a blue-light filter necessary?
It is not a universal requirement. First check the prescription, glare and working environment.
What if I have headaches every day?
Check workstation ergonomics and arrange an eye examination for recurring symptoms.
